Life Lately: October 2023

October is always one of my favorite months of the year, and this season was no different. We kicked off the month by spending October 1st in Salem, the hometown of all spooky seasonal activities. The next day, I went for a whirlwind work trip to NYC, which included my organization’s largest benefit of the year. The next week was full of family time, apple picking, and a whole lot of grad school work. Next, my three best friend’s came for Friday the 13th weekend. We had so much fun - going out to dinner, spending time at Nashoba, sitting by the firepit, and exploring. The best part? Long and deep conversations about life - there are few things more special than friends who have known you for decades, and have helped you transform into the person you are today. The next weekend included a day trip to western MA, to check out Scarecrow In The Park (an annual tradition) and we rounded out the month by throwing our 1st annual Halloween Party. The month also included a MamaConnect conversation on friendship, a Central Mass Mom Mom’s Night Out, lots of soccer practices and games, BUILD cohort 1.0, and working through my Wellness Exploration.

Watching/Reading/Listening: For me, October is all about spooky content. I watched a couple of the Scream movies, Hocus Pocus, Evil, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Tonight, I will - of course - watch Halloween. This represents way fewer movies than I usually watching in October, but alas - there has been so much going on. I finished The Chateau, and have a few other books that I’m nearly finished with (will share in November).

What I’m Loving: My friends and I loved going to Nashoba, and the “spicey wifey” might just be a new favorite drink - jalapeno + rose? Who knew! We got BOOED and BOOZED for this first time this year, and it was so cute and festive. I have been using my Five Minute Journal nearly every day, an it has become a core part of my wellness practice.

101 in 1001: I knocked off quite a few things on the list! Going to Salem in October with the kids, making a flower arrangement from my garden, going all out on Halloween decorations, hosting a Halloween party, and getting credentialed by the ICF!

WHAT’S NEXT: I have a lot of exciting things in the works - here is a quick snapshot.

  • Six Week Wellness Exploration: We have 1.5 weeks left of my first Wellness Exploration, which I have been sharing via Instagram. I think I will spend some time towards the end of the year packaging this into a workbook - stay tuned for more.
